Radio Climatic Zone for PMP

ToDo - find solution for TerrainData Reader to extract Radio Climatic Zone for PMP like ITU-R P.2001-4, ITU-R P.452.X. It is related to terrain data PMPs and data for terrain profile. For now ti is set to be fixed to zone 2 - which correspnds to Inland paths for ITU-R P.452-X.

In ITU Rec P.1812, Section 3.3, Table 3 there is definition for inland, coastal, and sea zones.

Possible to get this data from ITU IDWM software, but it is not free.

3.3 Radio-climatic zones

Information is also needed on what lengths of the path are in the radio-climatic zones described in Table 3.

For reference purposes administration might wish to use the coastal contours as contained in the ITU Digitized World Map (IDWM) which is available from the BR: https://www.itu.int/pub/R-SOFT-IDWM.

If all points on the path are at least 50 km from the sea or other large bodies of water, then only the inland category applies.

If the zone information is stored in successive points along the radio path, it should be assumed that changes occur midway between points having different zone codes.

Other Workaroaund solutions :

  • if terrain height is 0 - it is sea, other is inland
  • use data from 2001-4 Annex E zones
