AAS antenna pattern normalisation factor - EPP
STG#67: The AAS antenna modelling according to 3GPP and ITU-R M.2101 was implemented in SEAMCAT. The implementation of AAS has been verified and it works as specified. For further improvements of the functioning of the AAS in document STG(20)043 is proposed to add AAS antenna normalisation factor as an user defined parameter (on/off). In ITU-R SG 5 there is still no consensus on the use of the normalization factor, whereas ECC PT1 considers it relevant. Also, when using SEAMCAT for simulations it was noted some dB difference between value of calculated gain of the AAS (theoretical) antenna model and the real gain data obtained from the antenna manufacturers. Therefore, it was proposed to add an AAS antenna loss as a user-defined parameter with the default value set to 0 dB. STG#67 discussed the issue and considers that this feature is useful to be included for further improvements of AAS. It was noted by some participants that some work on implantation of normalisation in AAS issue has been already done by Mr. Koch. For implementation, details of the user interface, specification and test cases still needs to be further elaborated by STG members. Also, user documentation on AAS implementation is still to be revisited.
