5.5.0 Alpha 1
Dear STG member,
SEAMCAT 5.5.0 Alpha 1 has been released for testing.
Note on version number advance: SEAMCAT version 5.5.0 Alpha 1 is released with number change to reflect the introduction of major new functionalities in SEAMCAT (e.g introducing digital terrain capabilities in tools and simulation.).
You can download it from www.seamcat.org or through a direct link. User documentation explaining how to set up and use digital terrain features can be found on SEAMCAT page and here .
The source code for this version of SEAMCAT is also available at the SEAMCAT Source code page.
STG members and other SEAMCAT users are kindly invited to test the tool as much as possible.
Your feedback and test reports are very much appreciated for this test version until 20 of May 2022, 09:00 CEST, when we will gather all comments received.
This test version includes corrections and enhancements for the following items identified: (see attached file)
SEAMCAT_5.5.0_PRE-RELEASE_NOTE__202204XX_.docx
Note 1: After 5.4.3 Alpha 4 we have released 5.5.0 Alpha 1. Version 5.4.3 Beta or Official was not released due to lack of time and new features introduced in tool. Discontinuity in numbering is because from v 5.4.3 A4 we have introduced DEM calculations in SEAMCAT simulations, Terrain profile tool and Propagation Test Tool. It is limited to SRTM1 and SRTM3 in bil format and with PMP 452-16 (to be expanded). As this is major new feature introduced in SEAMCAT tool it felt it needed to be reflected in numbering scheme.
Note2: This is last release done with developer Mads Enevoldsen from Jayway (Devoteam) since he left his job and moved to another project form End of April 2022. He was developer of SEAMCAT for more than 10 years and his expertise was appreciated.
Note3: Terrain branch (terrain feature) was merged to Master branch in GitLab on 20220426. Terrain branch was started beginning of 2022 to start working on introducing DEM in SEAMCAT simulation, but also enabling release master branch if DEM take too much time or do not go well. Fortunately, we made significant progress and tests shows that is working correctly so it was merged for a release
